SOLD $1,250.00 Sold: Oct 30, 2023 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
eBay While the bulk of the lot is playworn - including some paint and broken hooks - there are some very nice rare pieces here in varied condition. The 69b Hatra Tractor Shovel does not appear to be a shovel swap. See close-up photos of the rivet which shows less wear than other parts of the base. There is one early coronation coach with the original box, and the later remake in gold with Matchbox founder Leslie Smith's signature on the box. There is one original covered wagon. There is a mint National Association of Matchbox Collectors (NAMC) 32 Superfast Leyland Petrol Tanker. The gift dish is unusual in that it has the rare 5c1 London Bus with the "Player's Please" rather than the common "Visco-Static". Also included is a preproduction Matchbox Originals unpainted with a different casting as you see in the photos. There are 3 catalogs - 1959, 1959 Second Edition, and 1960. One is the UK version. 1959 and 1960 are in good condition, 1959 2nd Edition has writing on back and some checks inside. It also has a slight ripple to it. Also included are the two cases you see - I will ship the items in those. The 20+ photos show the playworn items. The 60's models are in better shape than the 50's. There are a couple of extra boxes also.I am liquidating a large collection I have accumulated since the 1970's. It includes some of the rarest pieces Lesney / Matchbox ever produced.
